My Rating:
Five Stars

Summary: Qhuinn, son of no one, is used to being on his own. Disavowed from his bloodline, shunned by the aristocracy, he has finally found an identity as one of the most brutal fighters in the war against the Lessening Society. But his life is not complete. Even as the prospect of having a family of his own seems to be within reach, he is empty on the inside, his heart given to another....
Blay, after years of unrequited love, has moved on from his feelings for Qhuinn. And it’s about time: The male has found his perfect match in a Chosen female, and they are going to have a young—just as Qhuinn has always wanted for himself. It’s hard to see the new couple together, but building your life around a pipe dream is just a heartbreak waiting to happen. As he’s learned firsthand.
Fate seems to have taken these vampire soldiers in different directions... but as the battle over the race’s throne intensifies, and new players on the scene in Caldwell create mortal danger for the Brotherhood, Qhuinn finally learns the true definition of courage, and two hearts who are meant to be together... finally become one. (SOURCE)

Black Dagger Brotherhood is one of my favorite series' ... ever. I have my favorite couples that I ship, just like most other fans. Zsadist is my favorite of the brothers. Followed by JM, Rehv and Blay and Qhuinn, in no particular order. I have been anticipating this book for longer than I can remember. From the first time Blay and Qhuinn were introduced, I shipped them. As the series went on I continued to read just for little snippets of those two together.

I've always been a sucker for angst and heart break stories, and those two have always had both of those in spades. The kicker is, I always need an HEA so I have been holding my breath, hoping these two guys would get one.

When I first heard that the next full length novel in the series was actually going to be B/Q's book, I was nervous and excited. In the past, we'd been told there would only be a novella for them and that bummed me out. There was so much potential, good and 'bad'. Slowly, bits of info regarding the plot were revealed by Ward and I wasn't sure how I'd react to some of the things.

Layla was fantastic. I was afraid I would hate her for being a big interference between Qhuinn and Blay. Happily, she was not what I assumed she'd be. Such a passionate, caring, sweet character she turned out to be. I found her desire to help Qhuinn find happiness to be endearing. She was strong too, not weak willed, as I had noticed of the Chosen in the past. Good for her for going after what she wanted most! I found myself wanting to ship her with Xcor.

And Xcor, damn, as much as I wanted to, I couldn't hate him! The same was the case with Assail. Who'd have thought I would find myself absolutely loving the bad guys? Both of who have done terrible things to the Brotherhood.

The Brotherhood... they made me love them all even more, and I don't know how that's even possible because my adoration for them was super sized already. They are amazing males - warriors, hellrens, fathers,  full of compassion and love. Sigh.

But Blay and Qhuinn, y'all. Every scene between the two of them jumped off the page. Their chemistry and the UST was off the charts, as usual. I spent a lot of time blushing and fanning myself. I also wanted to hug both guys. And then shove them together for lots of kisses. There was so much misunderstanding between the two that I almost wanted to throw my kindle. I spent most of the book yelling at them "omg tell each other the truth!!!" These guys had more relationship drama than a male/female couple!

Mercy, did I love them both so much though. I went through the gamut of emotions through all eighty-two chapters and an epilogue. Sometimes I got frustrated when a chapter would end and the next one would switch to another story. In the end though, I was glad to get a mix of other characters. I'm not a huge fan of the lesser society stuff but obviously it needs to be there, otherwise, what would the Brothers be fighting? There wouldn't be a real point in having the Brotherhood if the lessers and Band of Bastards too weren't around.

Lover At Last was the first male/male full length book for me, though I've read short stories and fanfiction in the past. I loved seeing a different type of relationship though. When it's all said and done, love is love.

And since I loved LaL so much, I'm giving away a copy!!!

{Review} Circle of Light (Light #3) by Jennifer DeLucy

Review
Circle of Light by Jennifer DeLucy
Publication Date: Oct 9, 2012
Publisher: Omnific Publishing
Author Twitter - Author GoodReads
My Rating:
Four and a half Stars

Synopsis: Empath and Pathcrosser to the dead, Lillian Hunt has finally come into her own as a Sentient being. All seems well in her brave new world...that is, until a tragic turn sends her tight-knit Sentient group on a rescue mission through lore-infested Europe. Their goal is to save the love of Lily's life—vampire Sentient, William Maddox—from both the prejudice of their own society and the dark intentions of ancient vampires. But how will they keep hope alive, even as time runs out? (SOURCE)

Circle of Light is book three in the Light trilogy. I've been anticipating it's release for some time. I can't confirm or deny that I fangirl a little over Jennifer DeLucy and have talked to multiple people, telling them they need to read these books. They're not just another vampire story. They are so much more than that. The characters are well rounded and the plot is in-depth and interesting. She's created her own world. A world I really love.

In Circle we get all the stories wrapped into a nice, neat package. With a pretty bow on top. I especially enjoyed that, because often in a trilogy or series, the other characters fall to the wayside. I get why that is, but getting to see closure for everyone was a nice surprise.

I spent the bulk of the book swooning over Christian and Nicole, William and Lilly, and enjoying the other members of the household. Even the minor characters were a fun addition. Except maybe Judy Lynn (oh, you'll learn about her). I wanted to shove her off a cliff *smiles sweetly* She definitely brought the drama. But the thing is, the drama wasn't forced or overly used. There wasn't a sense of it being thrown in just to get us from point A to point B. It was solid and interesting.

I love how there's such a clear picture of how the Seers and Sentients live their lives. It gave me the feeling of being their friend, of being a part of their world. One of my favorite things a book can do for me is take me to another time and/or place. Circle of Light did that with ease. It was, in a word: superb. I'm actually sad to see this trilogy end but this last book made me warm and fuzzy.

I highly recommend the trilogy if you are looking for a twist on the usual paranormal or supernatural. You won't be disappointed. You can even enter to win a copy here.

{Review} Pleasures Untold (Hanaford Park #2) by Lisa Sanchez

Pleasures Untold by Lisa Sanchez

My Rating:
Four Stars

Summary: Hell hath no fury like a witch done wrong. Pissed off and packing an arsenal of witchy mojo, Martha is on the warpath. Determined to avenge the murder of her mother and grandmother, her mission is simple: kill every vampire, demon and underworld bastard she comes across, because one of those hell beasts might be the monster that stole her childhood from her. But when a sexy Latin vamp literally falls from the sky, saving her from becoming an undead Happy Meal, she has no choice but to reassess everything she thinks she knows.

Xan is an anomaly --a vampire born, not turned. A powerful warlock who walks in daylight, Xan spends his days, and nights, watching over Martha, protecting her from Lucian, the blood-sucking monstrosity whose sole mission in death is to drain her dry. Undeniable attraction and the promise of pleasures untold draw the two lovers into a frustrating dance of one step forward, two steps back. When Lucian throws down a deadly ultimatum, Martha is forced to choose between relying on her own mystical woo woo to save the lives of her stolen friends or succumbing to the lure of dark, voodoo magic. Xan and Martha must work together to save those closest to her and put an end to Lucian's reign of terror before it's too late. (SOURCE)

Pleasures Untold is the second book in Lisa Sanchez's Hanaford Park series. I enjoyed the first book immensely so I was excited to finally get the chance to read the second. It definitely didn't disappoint. I loved the character Martha in book one so for her to get her own story was pretty exciting.

She is a sassy, sarcastic, and strong young woman. Martha comes from a line of powerful witches that have all been brutally murdered. She has been making it her mission in life to try and hunt down their killer. With the help of her fantastic roommates and a delicious man she meets in a local club, Martha works to avenge her family.

Lots of new intriguing things are revealed throughout the book. It left me on the edge of my seat, anticipating every twist and turn. There wasn't one moment that I felt like Pleasures was predictable. It had the perfect amount of intrigue, supernatural, and funny. Oh... and the chemistry between Martha and Xan, it was through the roof. *fans self* Just the right amount of swoon worthy and delicious moments interspersed.

Pleasures Untold was the perfect second installment of the Hanaford Park series. I can't WAIT to read the next book. Go pick these up, you won't regret it.

Dark Side of the Moon (Dark-Hunter, #9/Were-Hunter #5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Published Date: Apr 2010
Publisher: St. Martin's Press

My rating:
Three Stars

Synopsis: Susan Michaels was the hottest reporter on the Beltway Beat until she walked into a setup that ruined her reputation. Now she's working for a small Seattle paper, penning stories about killer moths and alien babies, convinced that her life couldn't get any worse.

That was before an idea for a breaking news piece brought her to a local animal shelter where she ends up listening to her source rant about vampires and gets coerced into adopting a cat despite her allergies. But when her new pet suddenly reveals himself to be a gorgeous—and lethal—shapeshifter, Susan realizes that there’s far more at stake than a career-saving by-line.

Born into a world of predators, Were-Hunter Ravyn Kontis was betrayed by those he loved best. Soulless, pitiless, he has spent three hundred years battling the Daimons who seek to subjugate humankind. Against all odds, Susan evokes in Ravyn feelings of tenderness. Desire. Love. And with the ultimate battle about to begin, this one very human woman holds the power to shatter both their worlds...

(SOURCE)

I found that I enjoyed this one a lot more than I have the last couple of DH books I've read.

Dark Side of the Moon is Ravyn and Susan's story. I felt like I was able to see more of them in this one so it was easy to understand why they'd fall in love. Ravyn is a lot different from the other Dark-Hunters because he's not JUST a DH. Sherrilyn Kenyon used her usual formula of the DH having had a human mate betray them. There is a little bit of a twist with Ravyn's story though. I liked that he didn't seem as reluctant about getting involved with a woman... the way the Dark-Hunters usually react.

Susan is sassy and sarcastic and a little down on her luck when she meets him. He's drawn to her; with a deep need to protect Susan and make her life better. She's been betrayed by someone she thought she loved, her career is in shambles and she's lost the only family she had left.

When Susan and Ravyn are wrongfully accused of murdering two of her dear friends things begin to heat up. They race to prove her innocence before they are both thrown in jail, or worse.

The usual gang makes their appearances; although some of them not as often as in past books. You also get to meet new characters, which was refreshing for me since I'm not reading the Were-Hunter series and some of them pop in.

Overall I liked it and it ramped up my interest in continuing on with series. The epilogue really left me reeling and anticipating the next book.

The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide by Stephenie Meyer
Published Date: Apr 12, 2011
Publisher: Little, Brown Young Readers

My rating:
Three Stars

Synopsis: This must-have edition is the definitive encyclopedic reference to the "New York Times"-bestselling Twilight Saga with its exclusive new material, character profiles, genealogical charts, maps, extensive cross-references, and more. (SOURCE)

I was happy that finally the Illustrated Guide was released. It's been a long time coming, that's for sure.

The interview that kicks off the book was entertaining and funny. It was nice to read a full length, detailed Q&A with Stephenie Meyer.

There were things that were repetitive, of course, but then I learned bits and pieces that I had not known before. Mostly the revelations were about the wolves, which is what I was hoping for. Since the series is mostly about the vampires there were so many unanswered questions when it came to the shape-shifters (wolf pack).

It was nice to learn about Leah's transformation and Sam & Leah's story. Those are things that hadn't been in print before, I don't believe.

Also I did enjoy learning more about the vamps (Cullens and other Covens) and their transformation stories too.

I didn't get everything I would have liked to have learned about. Such as Embry's parentage, but I feel like there was a hint of who might be his father without SM actually confirming it.

Overall I liked it - the illustrations were nice and I liked the family trees and timelines. It was nice to finally have the Guide in my hands after so long. I'm glad I purchased it and am able to add it to my collection.

{Review} Breaking Dawn (Twilight #4) by Stephenie Meyer

Review

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer
Published Date: Aug 3, 2010
Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young
Author Twitter - Author GoodReads

My rating:
Five Stars

Synopsis:  When you loved the one who was killing you, it left you no options. How could you run, how could you fight, when doing so would hurt that beloved one? If your life was all you had to give, how could you not give it? If it was someone you truly loved?

To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, a tumultuous year of temptation, loss, and strife have led her to the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or to pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fates of two tribes hangs.

Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating, and unfathomable, consequences. Just when the frayed strands of Bella's life-first discovered in Twilight, then scattered and torn in New Moon and Eclipse-seem ready to heal and knit together, could they be destroyed... forever?

The astonishing, breathlessly anticipated conclusion to the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn illuminates the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic that has entranced millions.
(SOURCE)

This is only the second time I've read Breaking Dawn since it came out. I loved it then but I think I enjoyed it more this time. I saw a lot of things differently this go around. I don't know if it was just because of the movies or other factors [fanfic].

There were things that I didn't really remember from before, and other scenes that will always be embedded in my brain. I laughed a lot (mostly when it came to Emmett teasing Bella). I wanted to hug Jacob for the agony he went through in the beginning. I didn't dislike him the first time but I definitely have a different view now that I am partly Team Jacob (not for Bella, just in general).

The Ness thing never bothered me but I find that I appreciate her even more now. Her existence sort of fascinates me. I want to sit down with Carlisle and pick his brain.

It's also nice to see Edward happy (except for the stress of the outside sources) with Bella. And for Bella to still have her "human" family in her life. If she had to stay away from Charlie or even Jacob, I would have been so hurt for her.

Seeing it all play out in my head was a lot easier during this second reading; probably because of the three movies that are already out.

It made me happy to re-read after all this time. I even want to start all over with Twilight and read them back to back. Too many books, too little time.

Sins of the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon

My rating:
Three Stars

Synopsis: In the realm of the Dark-Hunters there is a code of honor that even immortal bad boys must follow: Harm no human. Drink no blood. Never fall in love. But every now and again a Dark-Hunter thinks himself above the Code. That's when I'm summoned. Who am I? I'm the one thing the fearless fear. Step over the line and it's my wrath you will face. Nothing can touch me. Nothing can sway me. I am relentless and unfeeling. Or so I thought until I met a female Dark-Hunter who goes by the name of Danger--it's not just her name, it's how she lives her life. She doesn't trust me at all. And who could blame her? She alone knows that I'm here to be judge, jury and most likely executioner of her friends. Yet she is my key to saving some of them. Without her, they all will die.

Dangereuse St. Richards is a deadly distraction. Something about her is reawakening a heart I thought was long dead. But in a race against evil, the only hope mankind has is that I do my duty. And how can I do my duty when it means that I will have to sacrifice the only woman I've ever loved? (SOURCE)

This is the story of Danger and Alexion. Danger was betrayed by her husband during the French Revolution. She lost her entire family and feels like she can't trust anyone else ever again. She is told that Acheron, the one man she does trust, if only a little, has been betraying the Dark-Hunters her world is turned upside down. There are other Dark-Hunters that believe Ash is dangerous to the world they all know. There is a tale about a man in a white coat that will come for them all.

Alexion, the man in the white coat, arrives to try to calm the uprising that is threatening to start. He is sent to Danger, who Ash believes will help him with the unrest. The last thing Danger wants is this man in her house or in her life. Alexion is impressed with Danger's fighting skills and strength.

They begin to work together, determined to save the lives of as many Dark-Hunters as they can. During their journey the two become closer and it scares Danger. Alexion is torn because of his loyalties to Acheron and he knows he can't stay with Danger after his mission is complete. She is destined to forget him as soon as he's gone, and he will always remember her and be tortured by the memories of their time together.

Danger and Alexion do their bests to try and save as many Dark-Hunters as they can but there are some losses, which greatly effects them both.

I enjoyed that we were able to see more of Simi and Acheron in their world but sometimes the Danger/Alexion love story fell flat for me. I didn't feel the emotions as much as I have with other pairings. It was nice, however; to get more pieces of the puzzle for the series. I'm anticipating reading the rest so I can make my way to Acheron's story - he is truly the reason I'm reading.

Seize the Night (Dark-Hunter #7) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Published Date: Dec 28, 2004
Publisher: St. Martin's Paperbacks

My rating:
Four Stars

Synopsis: Valerius isn't a popular Dark-Hunter-he's a Roman, which means that the largely Greek Hunters have a major grudge against him and his civilization for superceding them. To make things worse, he's very conscious of his aristocratic background and breeding. So it serves him right when he runs into Tabitha Devereaux. She's sassy, sexy, and completely unwilling to take him seriously. (Not to mention that she's the twin sister of the wife of former Dark-Hunter Kyrian-Val's mortal enemy.) What Tabitha does take seriously is hunting and killing vampires-and soon she and Val have to grapple with the deadliest of all Daimons-one who's managed to come back from the dead, and one who holds a serious grudge against both of them. To win against evil, Val will have to loosen up, learn to trust, and put everything on the line to protect a man he hates and a woman who drives him nuts. (SOURCE)

I am a sucker for the underdog- the guy that everyone hates for no obvious reason. Valerius fits that bill.

Val is Roman and our beloved Greek Dark-Hunter's have major issues with him. Even his squire gives him a hard time. Val is refined and a little stuffy, it seems. He stays away from the other DHs, making him look even worse.

Tabitha is Amanda's (Night Pleasures) twin sister. She's full of spunk and life and when she meets Valerius things begin with a bang. Tabby brings Val into her life and seeing his reaction to her roommate and her store is probably one of my favorite parts of their story. He tries to hide his reactions to her life style but Tab delights in shocking him.

Acheron places Tabby in Valerius' house after unfortunate events and she does her best to get him to come out of his shell. She does a lot of prodding and teasing to see him react.

As the book goes on we see different sides of him peeking out and he is scrumptious. Tabby brings out something else in Valerius, and vice versa. They are complete opposites but their relationship flourishes as they get to know one another, making them probably one of my favorite couples in the series.

I really like that every time I open one of these books I get something different. All of the Dark-Hunters seem to be looking for something and we see them get it in different ways. Val is looking for someone that sees him as he truly is, not for what his family did in the past. He is trying to move past everything that is holding him back, the memories of past loves and horrifying torture. I love that Tabitha is willing to stick around and help him with that. She does't allow the opinions of others to cloud her judgement, especially as she gets to know him better.

Seriously love these two and it was nice to see those from past books make appearances as well.

An excellent book and series.

Night Play (Dark-Hunter, #5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Published Date: Aug 3, 2004
Publisher: St. Martin's Paperbacks
Author Twitter - Author GoodReads
My rating:
Four Stars

Synopsis: Bride McTierney has had it with men. They're cheap, self-centered, and never love her for who she is. But though she prides herself on being independent, deep down she still yearns for a knight in shining armor.

She just never expected her knight in shining armor to have a shiny coat of fur...

Deadly and tortured, Vane Kattalakis isn't what he seems. Most women lament that their boyfriends are dogs. In Bride's case, hers is a wolf. A Were-Hunter wolf. Wanted dead by his enemies, Vane isn't looking for a mate. But the Fates have marked Bride as his. Now he has three weeks to either convince Bride that the supernatural is real or he will spend the rest of his life neutered--something no self-respecting wolf can accept...

But how does a wolf convince a human to trust him with her life when his enemies are out to end his? In the world of the Were-Hunters, it really is dog-eat-dog. And only one alpha male can win. (SOURCE)

Out of the Dark-Hunter series this has probably been my favorite book. It was nice to see Vane pull Bride out of her shell. She already seemed like a strong woman but Vane strengthened her even more. Loved seeing a woman that isn't a stick figure as the prominent female character. These two are so amazing together that I didn't want the story to end.

Can't wait to read more in the series.

{Review} The Bite Before Christmas by Heidi Betts

Review

Published Date: Oct 2010
Publisher: Kensington Publishing Corp.
Author Twitter - Author GoodReads

My rating:
Two Stars

Synopsis: In Heidi Betts's collection of holiday novellas, vampires turn to Angelina Bertolli — vampire matchmaker extraordinaire — to help them find that special someone to curl up with under the mistletoe...

"All I Vant For Christmas"
Connor loves trimming the Christmas tree, baking gingerbread cookies, and hanging the mistletoe. But his vampire siblings won't help. His friend Angelina sends party planner Jillian to the rescue. But when Jillian, who's mortal, discovers she's decking the halls for a family of vampires, will she run—or will Connor have a beautiful woman to share the holidays with?

"A Vampire in Her Stocking"
When Vivian learns that her secret crush Nick is terminally ill, she's heartbroken. Confiding in Angelina, Vivian refuses to turn Nick into a vampire. Deciding to play Santa, Angelina changes Nick and leaves him wrapped in a red bow on Vivian's doorstep...

"It's A Wonderful Bite"
Although Angelina is happy with her boyfriend Sergio, she's ready for a commitment. After drinking eggnog and watching It's a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve, Angelina falls into a dream where she is mortal and Sergio isn't interested in her. Talk about the nightmare before Christmas! But Santa must have checked his list twice because this Christmas Angelina's wishes are coming true... (SOURCE)

I got this one free through my Kindle and figured "what the heck?" It seemed like something that might amuse me and probably would be a little different.

The Bite Before Christmas contains three short stories. I'm not usually a fan of shorts just because I like details and I feel like I don't have time to really *love* the characters. The reason I read is to get lost in a story. I find I'm not able to do that with a shorter book.

TBBC was cute and probably what I was expecting. It follows three couples who are all connected in some way. Connor and Jillian, Vivian and Sean and Angelina and Ian. Angelina is a professional matchmaker and has a hand in the first two couples relationships.

I've never read anything else written by Heidi Betts so I can't really review her writing style as fully as I'd like. As short stories go, it was an ok read that was light and fluffy. The bonus is that it was free. I wish Goodreads allowed "half" stars as well. I liked it more than "two" but probably not "three".

{Review} The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer

Review

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner (Twilight #3.5) by Stephenie Meyer
Published Date: June 5, 2010
Publisher: Little, Brown Company
Author Twitter - Author GoodReads

My rating:

Four Stars

Synopsis: Bree Tanner can barely remember life before she had uncannily powerful senses, superhuman reflexes and unstoppable physical strength. Life before she had a relentless thirst for blood... life before she became a vampire.

All Bree knows is that living with her fellow newborns has few certainties and even fewer rules: watch your back, don't draw attention to yourself and, above all, make it home by sunrise or die. What she doesn't know: her time as an immortal is quickly running out.

Then Bree finds an unexpected friend in Diego, a newborn just as curious as Bree about their mysterious creator, whom they know only as "her". As they come to realize that the newborns are pawns in a game larger than anything they could have imagined, Bree and Diego must choose sides and decide whom to trust. But when everything you know about vampires is based on a lie, how do you find the truth? (SOURCE)

I've had the book for a while but hadn't had the chance to read it yet. I wanted to read something short so I decided to finally go for this.

It was interesting to see things from Bree's perspective- to see the things we didn't know about while reading Eclipse or seeing the movie. I felt like it was a great tie-in to the movie too and gave a new look at the Riley scenes.

I enjoyed the interaction with the Cullen's as well. Seeing Bree "stand up" for herself, even though she knew she was doomed. The way she went about "telling" Edward what she knew and had discovered.

I did feel bad for her (and Diego), knowing that everything that happened to her was out of her hands. Being turned without her consent; having to stay somewhere she didn't feel safe because she believed the lies Riley told the Newborns.

Loved that Bree gave Jane "the finger" so to speak without Jane even realizing what she was doing.

Reading this makes me want to go back and read Eclipse again, to see if I pick up on things I hadn't noticed before. I'm sure I'll look at everyone in a whole new light.

I'd like to know where Fred is now too. Hmm.

Overall, I enjoyed Bree Turner and I'm happy that I had the chance to finally read it.

Whisper of Light (Light #2) by Jennifer DeLucy
Published Date: Oct 26, 2010
Publisher: Omnific Publishing
My Rating:
Four Stars

Synopsis: The saying goes that all men are created equal... but Nicole Abbot knows better. Lacking the supernatural gifts of the Sentients she has known all her life, Nicole has lived with her nose pressed to the glass, withering beneath the guilt of her own inadequacies and the disapproving glare of her father. It's easy to believe that the universe has forgotten all about her, but things are not always as they seem. With the arrival of Christian Wright, a handsome but complex Combatant with a troubled history, Nicole is forced to question everything she has ever believed about herself, proving that sometimes, our most flawed perceptions are those reflected in a mirror.

Jennifer DeLucy again plunges us into the world of lingering spirits, dark apparitions, and malicious vampires. But this time she takes us to the California coast where we get to know a new ensemble of gifted souls that are just as vibrant and endearing as the Sentients we came to love in Seers of Light. In Whisper of Light, DeLucy delivers exciting supernatural encounters as well as very human interactions that will both break your heart and make it soar. (
SOURCE)

A fantastic follow up to Seers of Light! It was so fun to "visit" with recognizable faces, as well as meet new ones.

Nicole is such a strong character; it thrilled me to see her grow more confident in her own "gifts". Christian evolved so much from the man we saw in Seers and it made ME happy to see him make peace with himself.

These two are fantastic together. Another great pairing in this series that I'm totally in love with.

It's another great book from Jen! I could easily envision everything playing out- from plot to characters. My only "complaint" is- I wanted more, but I guess that's not such a bad thing ;)

Can't wait for the next book!

Synopsis: Wulf is an ancient Viking warrior with a useful but extremely aggravating power—amnesia. No one who meets him in person can remember him 5 minutes later. It makes it easy to have one-night stands, but hard to have a meaningful relationship, and without true love he can never regain his soul.

When he finally meets Cassandra, the one woman who can remember him, she turns out to be the princess of the cursed race he's sworn to hunt—and forbidden to him. The two of them must face ancient curses, prophecies, and the direct meddling of the Greek gods to find true happiness at last.

I can never decide whether this series blows me away or not. Sometimes I get lost in all of the mythology explanations and the couples story is buried within it. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but it can be too much at times.

I did enjoy Wulf and Cassandra's story and I was happy with how things evolved and ended. I loved the appearances of Zarek, Julian and the others and Simi is always a breath of fresh air. The more I "learn" about Acheron (or rather, don't learn?) the more I need to know.

Overall it was a good read and I enjoy the series.

Synopsis: John Matthew has come a long way since he was found living among humans, his vampire nature unknown. Taken in by The Brotherhood, no one could guess what his true history was - or his true identity.

Xhex has long steeled herself against the attraction to John Matthew. Until fate intervenes and she discovers that love, like destiny, is inevitable. (SOURCE)

Another amazing tale about the Brothers. This is probably going to go on my "favorites" list, most definitely. Maybe even give Z and Bella a run for their money as my "fave Brother".

Xhex and John are beautiful together. So much in common, with their tragic pasts and sadness. I'm so glad to see them both get who they deserve. I wasn't expecting No'one to be Xhex's mother but it is quite fitting, I think. A bittersweet story, for sure.

Qhuinn and Blay break my heart more and more as the series goes on. I don't know what to think about the two of them. They are one of the reasons I loved this story so much. I definitely need more of these two and I hope things get better for them.

I can't wait to "see" everyone again in the next book. BDB is always such a good read - I never get tired of the amazing plots and the differing characters. Good stuff.

Synopsis: Lillian Hunt has never truly lived. Always sensing more to the world than is easily perceived, she fears that her instincts are stubborn flights of fancy, or worse, mental instability. But some things—disappearing strangers, tangible dreams, and visits from malevolent creatures—cannot be ignored. Before it's too late, Lillian is ripped from the only existence she’s ever known and thrust into a reality that she always suspected, but could scarcely believe. She must learn the truth about who she is, the powerful beings that wish to destroy her, and the two men who would die to protect her.

Jennifer DeLucy has created a unique, enchanting tale of destiny and the ageless power of love in her debut novel, Seers of Light. DeLucy's novel charms readers with quirky characters, while sketching a haunting portrait of one woman's journey on the path of the supernaturally gifted. But be prepared. Once you've entered the world of Seers, you will never be the same. (SOURCE)

I can't believe it took me so long to start reading Seers. I've had it in my TBR list for a while, and even owned it for a good bit of time before starting it. It is nothing short of amazing. Jennifer weaves an amazing tale that takes you through Lillian Hunt's journey to her new life.

Lily always felt as if somewhere were missing, little did she know, seeing ghosts was actually normal for her "kind". She has an awesome, supporting group of friends that assist her during her transition. There are twists and turns that left me second guessing my initial thoughts.

I love what Ms. DeLucy did with her vampires and lore of the other supernatural aspects of the novel. I'm excited that this will be a series, I need more... now. This one kept my glued to it like no other paranormal book has in a while. I'm happy to recommend it to everyone I know that loves this genre. Amazing read!

Synopsis: What if the hottest guy in the world was hiding a nameless evil, and all he wanted was you?
At the start of this heart-pounding new installment of the bestselling House of Night series, Zoey’s friends have her back again and Stevie Rae and the red fledglings aren’t Neferet’s secrets any longer.  But an unexpected danger has emerged. Neferet guards her powerful new consort, Kalona, and no one at the House of Night seems to understand the threat he poses.  Kalona looks gorgeous, and he has the House of Night under his spell. A past life holds the key to breaking his rapidly spreading influence, but what if this past life shows Zoey secrets she doesn’t want to hear and truths she can’t face?

On the run and holed up in Tulsa’s Prohibition-era tunnels, Zoey and her gang must discover a way to deal with something that might bring them all down.  Meanwhile, Zoey has a few other little problems.  The red fledglings have cleaned up well – they’ve even managed to make the dark, creepy tunnels feel more like home – but are they really as friendly as they seem?  On the boyfriend front, Zoey has a chance to make things right with super-hot ex-, Erik, but she can’t stop thinking about Stark, the archer who died in her arms after one unforgettable night, and she is driven to try to save him from Neferet’s sinister influence at all costs.  Will anyone believe the power evil has to hide among us? (SOURCE)

There have been a lot of reviews about Zoey not being able to choose between her guys. I can honestly say that I get where her confusion is coming from. I can understand her conflicting feelings about Erik (with his mood swings and anger), Stark (with the uncertainty of his loyalties) and Kalona (with his hypnotic mojo). Zoey's abilities pull in the good and the evil, it's only logical that someone like Kalona would try to use lust and emotions to bring her over to his side, knowing she could defeat him if he didn't. Add to that, his belief that she is A-ya and he is determined to seduce her.

Zoey is confused about Erik, I believe, mostly because of his change in behavior. Maybe she goes back to him because she feels like it'll ease the guilt over hurting him after being with Loren, maybe she feels that he is the safe choice, the familiar choice. Who knows. She's a teenager, even though she is a powerful high priestess and is entitled to confusion and mistakes.

I think Stark stirs something in her that no one else has. But that scares her since she doesn't know if she can trust him or if she should. I'm glad that things turn out well for him in the end.

As for Heath, I believe she wants to cling to him so hard because of her fear of moving on from her old life. There is nothing written anywhere saying that she can't be friends with him but for him to have a relationship beyond that would be difficult, as has been proven many times. He could very easily be put into danger over and over.

I can't wait to read the next book to see what follows.
