Synopsis: Back in school, Matt was Lib's best friend--and also her secret crush. When she runs into him again while home for the holidays, sparks fly. But this time, Matt won't win her heart unless he first earns her trust.
When Matt was forced to move away, suddenly and without warning, the day after taking her to the Christmas Ball, he broke Lib's heart and shattered her ability to trust in love.

Three years later, he's the last person she expected to run into on a bus heading home for the holidays.

As the two of them reconnect, Lib finds herself just as drawn to him as ever, but her wariness compels her to keep her distance. Devastated by his failure to keep in touch over the years, she's determined to protect her heart--almost as determined as he is to make up for lost time. Matt seems intent on winning her love. But this time, he'll first have to earn her trust. (SOURCE)

I love short stories and/or novella's. They are usually the perfect little package when you want to read something short and sweet. Or short and naughty. Whichever the case may be. I'm also a huge fan of the "we used to be friends, a long time ago, but we lost touch" kind of thing too. Unrequited or unclaimed love, and all of that. It makes me swoon and my heart swell.

A Gift of Trust hit the spot when I went looking for something along those lines. Young Lib was in love with Matt and when he escorted her to the winter dance, it looked like things were finally falling into place for her. They go to a sweet little romantic spot, the fountain, in town. It was, in my mind, their spot. The place for a budding young relationship.

Then, the next day, Matt was gone. He'd up and moved away and crushed her heart. Even though he didn't have any choice, Lib still blamed him. When he shows up again, she is determined not to let herself fall for him. But Matt has other ideas.

As a female it was so easy to relate to Lib and her mixed emotions. Jeanette gives her just the right amount of emotions. Lib is a real character - so much so that it feels like you're reading the story of a friend. Or yourself.

And Matt. Oh how he can make a girl swoon with his sweetness and sexyness. I definitely found myself rooting for them. You can't help but want them to work things out - especially when all is revealed and Matt gets his chance to tell her what happened the day he left.

A Gift of Trust is a story full of sweetness and light. It will make your heart happy. I look forward to reading more by Ms. Jeanette!
